Ray Sell
Studio Principal

Actively involved and hands-on right from the beginning, Studio Principal Ray Sell does his due diligence on every aspect of the project, and oversees the budget, schedule, and deliverables from start to finish. Ray runs a team of project directors and managers, specialists, and AutoCAD and Revit support staff. While Ray collaborates with the design team and consultants from project kick-off through design development to ensure that the design meets all timelines and cost parameters, he gets more intimately involved with contract documents and construction administration. He contributes his drafting and detailing expertise to the creation of contract documents, reviews and approves shop submittals and drawings, and supervises construction of the interior built environment.

With over 20 years of diversified experience working on offices, commercial and retail establishments, medical facilities, and smaller core-and-shell buildings, Ray has become proficient in the conceptual, fabrication, and construction aspects of any given project. His keenly well-rounded perspective enables him to accommodate clients and other stakeholders by quickly answering questions and paying strict attention to detail while expertly overseeing the entire process. At TMA, he has worked on multiple high-profile projects: one of them was completed under significant constraints for cost and schedule despite its sheer volume and sophistication, and another project was built with intricately geometric and modern details on the top floor of a skyscraper and located right below all the infrastructure of the building.

Art and Architecture
As an artist and natural problem solver, my favorite part of interior design and architecture is being presented with a space and being given the opportunity to come up with the most aesthetically pleasing and functional solution for our client. My approach to solving each projects’ unique set of challenges is investigatory in nature and often requires a bit of trial and error before I find the perfect solution. Nothing beats the feeling when all of the pieces fall into place, and I see all of my hard work come to fruition. I take great pride in my contribution to the creation of the amazing interiors created by my team at TMA. In addition to architecture, I have a passion for art. I’ve been creating art for as long as I can remember, and have had my work shown in galleries and art fairs all across the U.S. and in Ireland. I work in mixed media, combining painting and collage inspired by vintage images.
