MatlinPatterson, a private equity firm focused on control distressed investing,
was looking for an office space that conveyed their seriousness and integrity
all while defining them with their industry. There was a preference for strong
site lines that created an environment free of hierarchy. Ted Moudis Associates
generated a 20,000 square foot office that incorporated a guest lounge, two large
boardrooms, open plan workstations, perimeter private offices and a large residential
kitchen. MatlinPatterson’s objectives were accomplished through careful selection of
understated materials, furnishing and finishes such as woven carpets, marble, lacquered
walnut paneling, mohair and leather. Elegant and simple details, utilizzing classic
materials like lacquered wood and polished marbles were also used throughout.
In order to maintain seamless interaction between all divisions of the company, an
open layout, from north to south, was created to maximize site lines. A large kitchen
and lounge spaces were incorporated to foster communication. The implementation od
details, such as video conferencing and electrified glazing, in combination with residential
touches such as draperies, pendant fixtures and lounge areas were created in order to
utilize the current infrastructure and technology.
