Investec, formerly Ernst and Company, is a South African investment banking and trading firm located in 60,000 square feet at One Battery Park Plaza, New York City. Investec executives elected to have open offices with no partitions challenging the usual corporate approach hierarchy. Ted Moudis Associates, in coordination with the local South African architect, addressed this request by taking a unique approach in developing the open plan design used throughout the floors. Glass fronted corridors are used to define various work and common areas including the executive area and the 60-position trading room designed with utilization of indirect lighting. Conference rooms are designed throughout the space accommodating the many private meetings that take place throughout the day and to compensate for the number of private offices.
