Ted Moudis Associates was retained by HSBC to create their new office space on the 27th floor of the newly constructed, architecturally dynamic, Hyatt Center Building in downtown Chicago. The project included the design of private offices, open office workstations, conference room, and an operations area for the WTAS staff. The client was not looking for a bold statement but rather one that represented efficiency, directness and professionalism. The private offices enjoy wonderful vistas to the south, east and west, capturing terrific views of the Chicago skyline and a partial view of Lake Michigan. Full height glazing on the fronts of the private offices allow the natural light to filter into the main office space. Through the simple application of off white paint to the perimeter walls and accent color washes the general office remains crisp and geared towards maximum interaction. The form of the building is curvilinear and column free. This directed the layout of the furniture into a curvilinear formation which mimicked the plan and optimized the quantities. To aid to this clutter free environment and streamlined design approach; built elements were held off to the sides of the space to allow for a maximum open office atmosphere.
