| Ted Moudis Associates designed this Financial Services Firm's new Corporate Headquarters in New York City. They were looking to establish a new office that not only provided them with a functional workspace, but also helped define and express who they are as an organization. The program consists of private office and open plan requirements as well as conferencing facilities, including both public and private "break-out" spaces. In addition they wanted to provide their staff with some lifestyle amenities such as a small cooking kitchen as well as a gym and locker facilities. TMA’s design team derived inspiration from both the chosen location and the founder's family ties to Montana. The resulting design combined the building’s panoramic views of Manhattan with materials and colors inspired by the landscape of Montana to create a New York version of "Big Sky Country". As one steps off the elevators, they are greeted by a textural stone wall which opens up and directs the visitor's attention to the reception area and the spectacular views of Midtown Manhattan beyond. The reception desk is constructed of Tigerskin Travertine that is carved into the landscape of the elevator lobby. A large custom pendant chandelier provides a "residential" quality to the seating area and is further complimented by a "cube" paneled in Mozambique veneer that provides a backdrop to the reception desk and houses the private break-out space beyond. Clear glass partitions continue through into the general office space while acoustic and minimal visual privacy is achieved through the introduction of fabric panels attached to the glass walls. The furniture combines clean contemporary designs with some classic modern pieces to complete the progressive modern office landscape. Other elements of the design that reflect this firm’s progressive corporate culture include double glass doors into the president's office and an adjacent lounge the provides the staff with a comfortable "get-away" environment that also doubles as a more casual meeting space. Throughout the space, they have embraced technology that includes plasma screens in all meeting rooms and "I-ports" in key breakout areas to allow employees to easily personalize and energize their environment. |
